Staying in the loop in July

Hello dear subscribers! I hope this finds you safe and healthy and madly stitching!

Inspiration from the past

We have been very lucky here in Australia. Watching world events has been sad, and worrying but it has also been a productive time for me and for many of you too, if the emails and photos of finished projects are anything to go by! We are so lucky to have to have our stitching for relaxation and therapy.

I’ve used my time in isolation to tidy the studio, several times and work on new designs. One of the new designs was in an old dusty folio. I found the original sketch along with a little swatch of needlepoint with the heading “Jantzen.” The date was 2000. 20 years ago!  I remembered this piece because the original idea for a needlepoint came from the fabric of an old pair of Jantzen men’s bathers that I’d found in a charity shop all those years ago.

The Jantzen cushion comes in two colourways; Sand and Slate. Find out more here:https://studiostitches.com.au/product/jantzen-a-mid-century-design-made-new-in-needlepoint/

The Flash Sale

The feature kit for July is my hand painted Camellia sleep mask.

This small project with its night sky blue and pink camellia flowers is quick to stitch and easy to sew. This kit is also special because it features beautiful wool from Cascade House, an Australian company specialising in embroidery yarns.

I offer a very special discount on one of my kits every month as my way of saying “thank you” to my subscribers.

The usual price for this kit is $72.00 but the July price is just $55. Christmas in July?!

What’s next?

I have a lots of new designs in the pipeline including a new design in the Wildflower series, a shoulder bag and a new kit celebrating the birthday of an old favourite.  Hopefully, next month I’ll be able to show you the some finished designs.

I wish I had lots of news of fabulous textile exhibitions, travels and adventures, but they will be back someday “soon.” In the meantime keep sending me your stories and photos of finished projects and don’t forget to enjoy life, one stitch at a time.

Best wishes, Barbara X
