Stitching the Sturt Desert Pea

The Sturt Pea is the third in the series of contemporary hand painted iconic Australian wildflowers. It is the floral emblem of my home state, South Australia.

I first saw the Sturt Desert Pea growing in the Flinders Ranges, Adnyamathanha country, and was captivated by the huge beds of these striking strong red flowers spreading across the rusty ochre soil and set against the beautiful blue sky that is so typical in that part of the country. It had to be part of wildflower series.

When you order a Studio Stitches needlepoint kit it includes:

  • the hand painted 10 count cotton mono canvas
  • 100% DMC tapestry wools
  • detailed instructions
  • 2 needles
  • and a practical calico bag to keep your project clean and tidy as you stitch

If you are new to needlepoint, remember, I offer a free one hour workshop in my studio to get you started and stitching confidently. Contact me, to arranged a time.
