About Barbara

I initially started designing needlepoint for myself. I was tired of the country cottage themes and couldn’t find needlepoint kits that suited my interests or taste.

A bit of personal history

I have been a stitcher of one kind or another since I was a girl and love textiles of all kinds.

In various baskets around my house and studio I have different craft projects on the go including:

  • a Fair Isle cardi
  • Elizabethan stump work embroidery
  • a patchwork quilt
  • and a sampler of Iranian embroidery

But for many years now, my favourite craft is needlepoint! It is my craft of choice, both for relaxation and the quality and practicality of the finished project.

I enjoy sharing my love of needlepoint and hearing the positive comments from happy customers keeps my motivated.

My art background

I studied painting at the National Art School in Sydney then went on to teaching Art, Craft and Design in secondary schools in South Australia.

I have always had sketchbooks and now my iPad, filled with ideas, photos and drawings. Over time and a lot of trial and error I learnt how to turn these ideas into suitable needlepoint designs and then into kits.

I am always working on new designs including a range of hand painted canvases which I started in early 2015. This year I have plans for a number of exciting new designs, so stay in touch to see what’s new.
