May news from studio stitches #needlepoint

Hello stitchers! I hope this finds you with a pile of lovely projects and the time to get to them.

It’s late Autumn here in Adelaide with leaves turned golden and the days getting quite chilly and shorter. A perfect time to turn our thoughts to the warm indoors and plan our new needlepoint projects.

This month I’m delighted to share my newest #hand painted needlepoint kit, which I have named Discs. A perfect design for a contemporary chair or home.

Discs is a large cushion 42 x 35 cm featuring 12 large discs of various striking patterns. The colours are bold contrasting orange and blue with grey, brown and yellow on a cream background that features my signature “dash. ” The dash provides interest as we stitch as well as providing another visual layer for the discs to float on.

As a subscriber, you are the first to see the finished Disc cushion, but please do pop over to my Instagram page sometime to see more.

This kit was such fun to paint and I know it will keep your interest as you stitch every disc with a different colour, shape and lines.

Remember, because this is a hand painted design you can commission me to do an alternative colour scheme at no extra cost.

In the studio

I am currently making a series of short instructional videos, one for each kit so that you can watch as well as read your instructions. Well that’s the plan. .

One of the positives of COVID has been the opportunity to access the various video technologies to share a staggering range of subjects. I’ve loved doing all kinds of tutorials online and I thought it was time studio stitches embraced video into the website.  I know I learn best when I watch someone, however I still like paper copies for reference. so now it’s possible to you will get both, everytime you buy a kit.

Stay tuned!

Your photos and comments

I want to thank those of you who take the time to send comments, suggestions and photos of your beautiful needlepoint projects. I love hearing from our studio stitches community. It makes my day and keeps me motivated to continue to improve the studio studio experience from the initial website experience, to the shop, packaging, postage, to follow up queries and advice, so that you can enjoy every stitch all the way to the fabulous finished project.

Here is the latest from JJ who bought the kits just as COVID began to feel real in Australia. She sent me this lovely photo of her Wattle and Banksia cushions together in the sun.

J and her Mum made one each and J writes: Mum is very pleased to have them resplendent on her verandah.

Such a nice idea buying one for you and one for someone special, then stitching your projects together either in person, or online.

Till next time, take care, and happy stitching!

Barbara x
